No. Even the limitations on the things you can suggest ought to be done to the president are ridiculous.

Re: Perilous System

I am going to run a few random combats with your system in the next few days and let you know if I run into any problems. I'm not exactly a master of Game Breaking Cheese Fu, but I might be able to sniff out more problems by actually playtesting it.

[br] I could imagine that difference causing problems, but it's one of many tactical differences between martial fighting and casting, and it's hard to predict where everything balances out. For example, casters are likely to have a wider range of effects they can produce. Of particular note, pure f...

Re: microbiology 101

Actually Tzor, "streaking" or running naked in public is indeed a cultural marker. I'm not going to go do research on just how universal a phenomenon it is, but my guess that it's fairly limited to certain age-groups within a narrow range of societies.

Funny, about 3 months back I tried a forum game using Shadowrun for survival horror. Unfortunately, the GM bailed on the game before we'd attacked our first zombie. Pity.

I've always used "streaking" for when I use a loop on an agar plate, and tend to use "culture" when referring to bacteria in broth (no solid agar).

Yes. It has been noted. Repeatedly, I daresay. But it's cool... this is a problem that needs to be noted since it seems endemic to most systems.

Re: Power Level Benchmarks

PVP matters if the "monsters" that you throw at your party can include classed creatures like the PCs themselves. This isn't PVP sensu stricto , but that's one reason that I can think of why you wouldn't just want to balance the classes out in terms of which monsters from the MM they can k...

Re: It's all about having fun... so why am I complaining?

Works quite well with respect to how crappy everything else is, yes.[br][br]D&D is the go-to system for high fantasy, I will admit that. The core d20 system has some horrible gameplay flaws, but at least it's got some semblance of internal coherence and it's actually somewhat intuitive.[br][br]H...

Re: Things that are NOT FUN

Again, I find that the problem there is:
1. Faulty rules.
2. Rule 0 being used arbitrarily to make up for faulty rules.

Solution: boycott d20 product, and play something else.

It's better than the real world, because at least a digital record of said stupidity is kept for posterity. Furthermore, the minority of people that aren't completely retarded can locate each other much more easily.

I remember back in '01 looking at the monk class and thinking it was sweet. One of the players in my first 3e campaign ran a monk/rogue and only did anything remotely notable when he sneak attacked. I also pointed out the un-errated Ninja of the Crescent Moon to him, I think he took one level before...

SAME is simply a very stable and inherently balanced backbone that can reasonably be used for any fantasy roleplaying and I think it can be used for RIFTS just fine. It is, however, just the supporting structure over which a full system can be built, so if you do decide to use it, be aware that it w...
