The worst part about following the 538 liveblog is that they have a live facebook comments widget in their sidebar and I keep making the mistake of looking at it.

It's full of people who do not understand what "21% chance" means.

Geeze, that sounds like a class that's perfect for a little paragraph to the effect of "having seen their effectiveness in battle, the Legion has dedicated a great deal of effort to studying their abilities and produced a force of Gear Eaters of their own". There's plenty of conflict betwe...

Oh my god, that's possibly the most blatant "Let's hope no one actually clicks on these links" I've ever seen. The very first one is labeled "DNC member killing horses for insurance money." and links to an email chain that's "Someone asks people to vet a potential donor and ...

Prinnies are iconic to the series as being completely disposable minion grenades. You bring them along to level them up so they explode more enthusiastically when you throw them. They are not a suitable PC concept.

I'd be pretty dubious of an EU exit strategy that isn't: 1. Everyone leaves the EU 2. Everyone promptly signs on the dotted line for EU 2.0 Which would probably actually be an option, though likely to result in some stragglers. I'm not very informed on how the EU restricts any side negotiations betw...

It is also illegal to say "sorry, we're swamped with work" as an excuse to not serve gay people; it's just hard to prove in court that they're deliberately refusing to serve gay people. Allowing buisnesses to refuse to serve some customers on the theory that they can go elsewhere has assor...

Ships built in a shipyard with an engineering bay have a permanent -10% upkeep reduction rather than an "in orbit" reduction.

I think an 85% reduction is with the spaceport base savings.

Crew Quarters is the only module I've seen that reduces upkeep cost; there's a free -25% reduction for any spaceport and it's reduced by admiral skill and the logistician trait. Hence me usually just having one fleet base so I only need one admiral. Also, building more crew quarters cuts down on the...

Yeah, the battleships can mount auras too, though they're not as good. The biggest one is that the FTL inhibitor one doesn't divert incoming jumps directly into the fleet, which I personally consider the primary justification for the defense stations. I drop them on hyperlane junctions, in valuable ...

The biggest thing the fortress stations do for me is the FTL inhibitor. Any incoming hostile fleet comes out of FTL directly on top of the fortress. It can be pretty handy for forcing fleet engagements on your terms. My experience with the Fallen Empires is that if you aren't assaulting their system...

There's a button on the info panel thing for science ships that lets you switch them from evade (run like hell) to passive (ignore hostile fleets). Then you need to micro them when there is a fleet in a system, of course, but it's very good if you have hyperdrive and want to skip a system and move o...

However, you should discuss the full situation with her, including your concerns with following her advice, in case she knows something important you do not, since knowing medical thi...
