I have not posted here regularly in six years I have not posted at all here in two years I have, about twice a year, poked in and looked at what's been going on, mostly to look at old threads and because a part of me gets morbidly curious or morbidly nostalgic. I have to admit that openly, because i...

I feel the big problem with Pentex is that corporations of that size are inherently terrifyingly evil; bolting on some Captain Planet anti-environmental agenda and other such conspiracies as an outright goal just makes it silly. Real world corporations pollute the environment, fuck over large sectio...

It's funny, I had that set when I was, like, 4 or 5. Wouldn't play D&D for another decade and my folks didn't play ever. Didn't realize what they were, (Or what they resembled) until years later when I found the rust monster and bulette in an old box.

Everything I have heard says that you cannot describe anything about Rolemaster as "Fluff-first, crunch after" in any kind of intellectually honest way. Granted, I must admit in full disclosure that I have not read Rolemaster, much less played it. Every time I've tried, I've been filled wi...

The Bygone Bestiary. It's a supplement for Mage the Ascension and Mage: The Sorcerers' Crusade which is intended to show you how to create and field mythical creatures in the World of Darkness, and has the questionable idea of doing this mostly through Merits and Flaws. You can use it to approximate...

I love institutionalized randomness that monkeys with your character. Like "You drank from this fountain, so roll on this chart. Maybe you'll get a stat boost, maybe your hair will turn purple, maybe your soul will be swapped with your Familiar." kinda stuff. Or the Deck of Many Things. I ...

True Neutral (grey) can serve as the guys that are always on the winning team just as well as the guys who don't want anyone to win and thereby impose anything on them. Wait, are you actually bringing up that Protected Balance bullshit where Neutral characters were required to change sides mid-conf...

On a mostly unrelated note, call your bank. When I ordered the EP rulebook, my credit card information got stolen shortly afterwards and I am pretty sure that was what caused it.

Either answer devolves into a question of what is the nature of good and how do know what good is, making it unusable as an alignment system. Not really. Because Detect Good is called Detect Good purely out of convention rather than certainty. One can't really say that Good is Good and Evil is Evil...

Are there any decent rules as to how science-fantasy spaceships work, either Spelljammers or other things? The only 3e rules for Spelljammer I've seen was a woefully incomplete issue of Polyhedron magazine, which actually completely fails to explain what powers a Spelljammer, which might be okay, ex...

I think that Dogbert's point is that while raining down on your GM like a tidal wave of fists is rarely if ever effective (regardless of catharsis), there are situations where talking would be pointless and you can't just walk away (Maybe there are no other groups around, or you're tied inexorably t...

Didn't Slaanesh come into existence at a recorded point in the setting's history, though? The Four Chaos Gods being a primal force in the universe (or at least all four of them being a primal force in the universe) is kinda undercut by that.

I am going to confess this here, to ensure I don't do it: I had the idea earlier while exploring old threads to necro an old thread by a controversial former poster like Tzor just to see what kind of heart-attacks the possibility of said poster returning would inspire.

I haven't read Dragonlance since high-school, admittedly. ANYway, my point. I don't recall directly, but di...

I doubt it. I only ever saw one of the books with my own eyes, and it wasn't this one. Curiously, as I recall, it was the one about Charlemagne. I also seem to recall that there was one about Robin Hood, but I don't know for sure.

It's not that much bookkeeping either. The tickboxes are just a way of representing ten numbers: half of which go up to five, half of which go up to ten. The most I have ever seen anyone gain in a single session is fifteen boxes total across those ten numbers, and it's usually far less. Fifteen box...

I really haven't touched my Skyrim game since my lasts posts in this thread; and have gone through a computer surgery; which may have left the save files in limbo. Not a big deal anyway.
