Looking for an anime...

I keep remembering an anime movie I saw at Gen Con some years back, and I decided to take advantage of you guys humbly seek aid on the matter. The movie was set in the near future, and there were basically two nations at a fragile, cold-war-style peace. One had a big-ass tower - I mean, it was like ...

It may not be official policy, but if someone puts "Talisman, please stay out" in their thread, I am likely to respect their wishes. If they put "Talisman you fucktard, keep your bullcrap out of here," I am far less likely to respect them at all. How about (as the Wizard indicate...

Persecute the martyr? Or persecute Jesus?
Persecuting Jesus may involve an element of risk, especially if it's post-Rising.

In Tolkien, Man actually represents Heroes, as opposed to Hobbits, who are from the idealized English countryside. In that world, Aragorn, Boromir, Faramir, Theoden, and Eomer are actually classic epic heroes, while Denethor and the Ringwraiths are tragic heroes from Shakespeare or ancient Greeks. ...

Also, why the fuck are humans always 'generic'??? I mean, it's a really strange type of chauvinism to assert that, in a fantasy world, your own species will be both the most adaptable and the standard by which everything else is built. It's one thing to play on a human scale. That's usually ideal, ...

Though I was tempted to vote for persecuting Christians, I went with the Weird Al reference.

Luckily for me, I'll be gaming on Emotional Blackmail Day; of the 6 of us, 3 are totally single. Alas, I shan't be able to incorporate a love-themed adventure.

In fact I'm really just referring to that one magic nun that found Rand/Jesus in the first place. I agree that willful stupidity should always be the deadliest thing to a PC...and it compounds any other dangers you may encounter. So a horde may be a moderate threat, but horde + stupidity = dead PC. That being said, some of these categories are a little counterintuitive. Of course a Big Boss is m...

^Agreed. Now, I must say I do like two concepts that have been mentioned here: The Ragebar. As you get beat up, you gain access to Drama Points, or floating bonuses, or Power Through the Pain or some such. This is only effective in a short burst (i.e., during the climactic final battle). In effect, ...

Being hailed as a hero =/= being a hero. It really does. In fact, it's the only measure of "being a hero" that has any meaning. My God...that's perhaps the most cynical thing I've seen on this very cynical board. So saving a child's life isn't heroic unless it earns you a parade? That's t...

My point is this. Read carefully. You claimed that, because Profession is screwed up, it must be used as a balance point. It exists; therefore, rather than try to fix it or ignore it because it's crap, we must build our house upon this foundation of sand. I say that if a given spell or skill is so l...

But that's the point. Fireball is weak for a 3rd-level spell, but it is a third-level spell. If you admit fireball should be made better, you've just admitted Profession should be made better.

Background skills as currently written are a waste. That doesn't mean all skills must scale to their power level, or that the concept of background skills is useless. That's like saying all 3rd-level spells must be equal to fireball , because it exists and is a third-level spell. Background skills n...
