A heartbreaker is your own little system, of which you expect great things (do things better than ALL these other systems), but which will break your heart when it is just as bad or good as those other systems. And no matter how much you try, it will never reach that pinnacle of greatness that you i...

The big thing I see is that it requires a LOT of trust. You need to trust your GM that whatever they may pull out is not going to disable whatever you spent it for. (You spend the point to not be detected, they spend it to make you be detected later anyway) And the GM needs to trust you to not use i...

Depends on the armor and its heat capacity, the laser wavelength and focus, and the material the beam has to travel through. Stainless Steel 430 has a specific heat Capacity of 460.548 J/(kg*K). You need about 460 Joules of heat to increase the temperature of one kilogram of Stainless Steel by one K...

Good luck. Most radar installations have such things in at least a kilometer distance, for exactly that reason.

I think (though I'm not certain) that you usually jam by broadcasting a deterministic high power signal instead of a random signal: yelling, not static. This has the effect of desensitizing and potentially damaging the target's electronic systems and is easier to implement than high powered random ...

Well, one of the things would probably be to have them start with (Attribute Minimum)+2, instead of a fixed 3.
Right now a Troll has to get two levels of Customization just to get the Limb to Strength and Body minimum. If they instead started at (5)+2=7 that would make them more valuable

So... radar and jamming radar https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radar_jamming_and_deception#Mechanical_jamming From what I understand radar's in the microwave spectrum, modern radars can move around that spectrum. yes and no. To add to what grek said: Not only electrons can absorb light. Molecules can too, which convert light of a certain wavelength into vibrational energy. These also only take a certain wavelength and ignore the rest, allowing you to do stuff like check a gas' composition using light (you shine it throu...

Less determined to avoid the plot, and more unwilling to work for the price.
If you found a signed check for $100 on the ground it would be worth it.
If you found out that to check it in you had to work for a whole day you'd reconsider.

Sure, in large weapon systems where the heat energy output becomes high enough to destroy the weapon even with ...

Firing a heavy projectile at absurd speeds means absurd recoil, which is going to be a serious problem for ordinary humans carrying the thing. Well, advanced materials can probably absorb huge amounts of recoil. And if not you just need exoskeletons (like in the first Ion Weapon spoiler) Also, liqu...

for heat dissipation reasons. Very likely. Modern lasers are usually either small enough that the power isn't making it that hot or big enough that the resulting apparatus is 10% laser, 90% cooling. Efficiencies vary from 60% (small diode lasers) to 0.1% (e.g. Ion-Argon). Those 100kW in photons mig...
