Worth noting is that if he is found not guilty then he will be compensated for lost income, I think it was something like up to 80% of income lost (and it would likely be the largest payout ever of this type in Sweden). People like Trevor Noah suggested the authorities could just take his passport a...

Can someone explain to me why Americans are so upset about A$AP Rocky going on trial in Sweden? He and his posse clearly used excessive amounts of force and are very obvious flight risks. And I can't understand how anyone takes Rocky's claims of human rights abuse seriously. What is going on? (No I'...

What happens if we assume that the 'best' power is some form of non stackable buff/debuff/area control that offer decreasing marginal utility? So you only really want to use the best power once or twice before some other power offers more utility. Some of the Psionics problem seems to be that the be...

So... I tried to figure out who the Free League were and I couldn't. Apparently they helped organize a kickstarter for Simon Stålenhag's "Tales From The Loop," which is an art-book about an alternate timeline where 1980s Sweden has a bunch of robots. I have no evidence whatsoever that the...

My contention is that without an RNG, an RPG is necessarily as bullshit and ultimately unsatisfying as Amber Diceless. This is basically the statement that Kaelik has been contending the whole thread. No it isn't you lying sack of shit. So what you say is that you have no problem with the quote fro...

Kaelik is strawmanning very hard because he's tired of being ignored. His hatred of any type of dice rolling has him insisting that everyone else in this thread believes that every action should require a roll, no matter what or 'no agency'. Since nobody has actually made that claim, I don't know w...

Rolling the dice doesn't force the DM to be open to different solutions, but having abilities will. It's too easy for a Climb check to just always be a few points higher than you can roll, but a goddamn fly spell is going to always get you to the top of a fucking wall 100% of the time unless the DM...

Part of it comes from a desire to limit bias as the GM. If I know what my players abilities are, if the results are entirely deterministic based on what they have selected, when I am designing a scenario I must constantly confront the question of whether I want the PCs to find some thing or not fin...

It's not really a linguistic thing. PL is just pretending to be stupid in order to fish for responses from deaddmwalking, because the longer deaddmwalking talks the more material PL has to misquote in order to make him look dumb. Sure, I didn't mean to give the impression that PL had a good argumen...

Rolling the dice is roll+ability. If you don't add an ability, it is random. If your fighter has a +12 attack and your wizard has a +2 attack it is not 'random' which attack hits, though each attack has a random element. If the rogue has a +12 search and the rest of the party has a +2, it is not ra...

I'm still sleuthing on the rules though. Most reviewers don't seem to care much about that part. As far as I can tell the basic system is that you have 8 ability scores (as opposed to 6 in D&D) with starting scores between 5 and 15. There are no skills and all normal actions are dealt with by a ...

Not sure what you mean by "if it fails". Kult easily has enough fans in Sweden alone to fund a Kickstarter. And checking the Kickstarter page reveals that with an initial goal of 95 000 kr (~$11 500), they are now up to 1 470 000 kr (~$178 000) with ten days to go.

So I read up on this a bit and it turns out to be more popular than I though at first. Mostly people are enamored with the setting. It lacks the breadth of the typical D&D setting since it's mostly focused on a single mystical forest, but it still has some variety in things to play around with. ...

This is another Swedish RPG that's gotten translated to english it seems. While I'm guessing a lot a swedish roleplayers know about it, it's not really gotten any buzz since it was released. White Wolf doesn't exist anymore, so Onyx Path would essentially have to make and market new games from ground up. Onyx Path doesn't really do that. They probably wouldn't even be able to keep the major names, because all the rights belong to Paradox. As name_here said I was referring to the new Wh...

Just how numerous are the Werewolf and Mage fans actually? How much does White Wolf risk losing if the were to chuck the whole WtA/MtA-canon in a bonfire and then redesign everything from the ground up so the concepts fit better with the VtM-world? They could even reuse the major names to maintain s...

Announcing Chronicles of Darkness!

So Onyx Path gets to keep publishing nWoD but under the name Chronicles of Darkness, while oWoD is back to being just WoD and will be published by the new White Wolf.

Started watching Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru!, and I have to say that judging from the first few episodes this is by far the most shameless author self-insertion fantasy I have ever seen. If I was writing a fantasy story with wizards and I needed a sport for them to compete in, I would probably have them play some form of Nomic . It seems perfectly suited for wizards trying to outsmart each other. Also if you're playing Nomic in the real world you still have to keep within the laws o...
