Agreed.

Looking for something to skin? Try this...

SNAKE TO THE FACE!

Oh, you've gone all purple.

Sorry SGamerz - but 'Snake in the Face' is cooler than 'BOOM, Headshot'.

Maybe I play too much diablo.

Agree with nudge, blue quest, and spider gloves.

I have to say that I'm not totally surprised. Disgusted, and glad she's out of there, and generally enraged at the state of our world (again), but not surprised.

If you're open to new players chiming in, I'd go venomancer and buy a snek.

If not, I'd suggest you do that, 'cos it sounds awesome :D.

Not sure on loot.

Huh. I obviously wound up somewhere stupid from my quick googlin'. Oh well! I'd say yes - atm, you can opt to learn a fire damage spell, which doesn't gain your bonus damage, or an ice damage spell, which does. "When dealing damage with a Spell-Like ability with the <Cold> descriptor...." ...

Casting time on the creation spells - without you specifying that they take as long as the base spell, they default to a Standard action. Might be intended, might not, but at-will creation spells can be a pain to adjudicate on-the-fly - they're also massively useful, so as a player I wouldn't compla...

Yep, all 5e prep casters prepare x spells, and then cast y spells/day chosen from list x.

As you say, it's sort of a sweet-spot middle-ground, and proved very popular - at least at my table.

I do love how often we come down to:

"everything good about 4e was done better in the Tomes. Before 4e even dropped"

No sarcasm - it's good to see different approaches to the same basic problems, with the exception that one actually... like... worked.

Personally, it's finding someone else to GM that I actually trust to deliver a goddamn game rather than a clusterfuck :). As a player, I find it really hard not to optimize a character to do what the concept wants to do - deliberate inefficiency is like dragging a blackboard down another, larger, bl...

Jesus, this is basically Cyberpunk 2020 so far. Ref and Int, BOD for survival, and botches on a 1 in combat leads to retarded shit like shooting yourself in the ass. Speaking as an amateur designer - do I need to develop the sad condition of being TOTALLY FUCKING UNABLE to learn from my mistakes in ...

I don't mind FnP - it's just a sequential invulnerable save. What grates me is that it's Fanatical Devotion/Disgustingly Resilient/Some other bloody name. Exception-based design herpes, yay! Given I'm mathematically inclined, something statistically equivalent like an extra wound wouldn't bother me ...

Not really relevant until level 4, though - so talking about this in the context of level 1 characters is kinda daft. Nothing else useful to contribute at this stage, but will keep an eye out and shout if anything leaps out :).

to be fair, the chart was 4+ 5+ 6+ 6+ - for every line - so yeah, you couldn't always wound, making some weapons flatly ineffective against some targets (which I personally liked! wound anything on 6s is the current paradigm, and it's frustrating :D). So Weapon Strength +D6 vs Toughness, where all t...

Yep. N17 is a pretty solid game. Standard GW rules quality, aka middle-of-the-road with some very odd grammatical choices - but it's better-written than 5e. Now that they're onto the 4th Gang War book (think like a living rulebook game where they sell each update as a new fucking book), the game is ...

Confession: I still play 40k. And Necromunda 2017. So, obviously, my judgement is easily swayed by pretty plastics. No, the new damage chart is not better. Yes, lasgunning a Land Raider to death feels downright retarded. Ambivalent on the AP - I don't mind save modifiers, I don't mind save ignorers....

You're then meant to eyeball the other abilities in line with the huge chart-o-special rules at the end of the monster tweaking chapter. What I'd point out, though, is that even rebuilding some basic MM monsters using their stats from the MM and features from the MM gives different results if you ca...

IIRC, Gnolls are the ones with the gangbang buff and massive HP compared to the PCs, yes? CR in 5e is meant to indicate... well... think of it more like a rough indication of what level spells you might want to use on them. Or the square root of their shoe size. It's basically useless. Minimal relat...
