Well, as long as there's nothing else for the trainer to do, like in an official match like this, I think people are just avoiding half-posts for no purpose. In a standard fight it'll be easier to make a post for each.

"Dratini, Dragon Dance, and tail slap the sandile*." *Once Drast gives the command and Dratini uses a standard action to activate Dragon Dance and a move action to move up to the sandile, Drast activates his Rally ability to give Dratini an extra attack action. (Attack: 18+8=26, Damage 8+8...

I'll probably open with Dratini if we're going first, balanced elemental defenses and can be a heavy-hitter by round 2.

Drast looks over at the Elf, and at the other party of trainers. He nods at Kentaro, then looks at the Elf. "Perhaps you'd like a demonstration of our ability to help? If you'd care to watch, we're about to engage in a trainer battle," he shrugs, "apparently."

Drast looks up from his map. "I've been working on a few new maneuvers with my partners. It'll be good to test them before we get to a gym. When we are ready to move on, it looks to me like there are two main paths from here to Hellgate Keep: one through the woods and one along the river. Hard ...

Drastrix Renthris (Drast for short) sits at the table, his blue scaly cloak pulled close around him, cradling his golden egg. He polishes it even as he polishes off his plate of food. He's got a map open in front of him, and he's considering the paths ahead.

I'm good with the plan of starting near, or heading toward, Hellgate Keep first. However, if you have somewhere you want to put Mt Armory and then start closer to there, heading toward Hellgate to pick up some experience.

It strikes me that the badges are just for getting them, as even in the game badges have effects. I think the gym leader effect is to give you a badge and the effect without having to challenge for it. It would be quite odd if you could only get the effect from one badge in your whole career.
