This blood pyramid requirement means we'd probably have to entirely drop the idea of blood bonding (at least for Kindred)--it'd be way too complicated if Ancillae keep records and rotate between neonates, never drinking from the same twice, and way too broken if all the elders "in charge" ...

Re: OSSR: Street Samurai Catalog

P Also introduced: Narcoject(TM) ! Which is sort of like the Drow Sleep Poison of SR, except the way that Shadowrun's Stun damage overflows to physical damage, woefully overpowered. You can kill just about anybody with these things but shooting them unconscious and then shooting their body until th...

1. Someone has Gallifreyan Psychic Paper? Sounds reasonable. I'm not sure that there really can be a great all encompassing list of potential magic gadgets. The acceptable genres you could grab things from are so vast that listing everything would be longer than the book. For example: someone just ...

After Sundown - some rules questions

Just had our first real After Sundown session. Some rules concerns/questions. My players are having a lot of trouble pricing good Destiny/Secrets. One item we brainstormed (and I called a level 3 Destiny) was an ID card that any extra sees as situation-appropriate authority--police badge, health ins...

IRL After Sundown - San Francisco

Long shot, not sure if this kind of ad is accepted here but I figured I'd put it out--I'm putting together a group to play After Sundown in San Francisco. Any Denners in the area interested in playing? Sunday afternoons, most likely. PM me contact info or reply here?

I want to say I remember reading somewhere that True Secrets Of The Black Hand was written by someone to point out how ridiculous things were getting, only for the WW Editors to not get the joke and publish it intact. Like Spock's Brain in ST:TOS. This sound right to anyone else? Also, A) what does ...

What is wrong with LARPing?

So because it's basically impossible to find a gaming group once you move past D&D--side note, as this deserves a thread of its own: why is this so hard? I live in San Francisco. It's basically a city of 800,000 young dweeby software engineers with lots of cash and not a lot to do. It's not like...

core druid spells

OK, I've never actually played a druid before (gasp!) I know core CoDZilla is pretty good, and it's not just Wild Shape, but what are the best druid spells that I'm not thinking of? I'm 9th level, mostly interested in core spells, but Completes are probably in too. (3.5, obviously.) Looking especial...

Homeric heroes are giant tools

So I've been burning time in the weight room listening to the Iliad on audiobook. It's fun, if incredibly repetitive, but the fact keeps kicking me in the balls: these are terrible, terrible people. Some examples. Odysseus and Diomedes are sneaking about at night. They meet a Trojan, Dolon, doing th...

Another interesting point is that with levels, it's harder for a player to fuck up his character royally. Assuming well designed classes, a Rogue 7 is going to have useful abilities. If you're not very good, you might buy useless skills and powers for your thief-themed character with 100 BP. On the ...

What's the saying, that any parody of fundamentalism will be indistinguishable from the original? I think that's doubly true of North Korea. I find all the stuff on that page very hard to believe...but that doesn't mean I think it's false. Scary.
