Sorry for the necrothreading, but I chatted with the guy behind anydice.com, and he put together a script for showing the dice distributions for cthulhutech. I don't know how accurately this has been constructed, but it might be useful for people interested in this thread. http://anydice.com/program...

I'm still a big fan of pre-MtG WotC's "Primal Order" system that Peter Adkinson created.

I was a 4E Kickstarter backer and got my Player's Guide PDF a couple of weeks ago. Several of the interior spot illustrations are good but the color art is so generic fantasy that it would be unrecognizable without the setting specific races. The layout is dull but serviceable if you want to use a ...

My feeble magic user has successfully grappled a gorilla and a hulking brute with a great axe among others. It probably was about +5 difference in each of those cases which meant that my 7 strength wizard can totally put a gorilla in a full nelson one quarter of the time. Nobody remembers if you ro...

How long can they keep that up though? I mean they keep firing people. Sooner or later they are going to HAVE to change up the staff because they will have fired everyone right? Maybe that's all that needs to happen, for EVERYONE to get fired so we can see new people with new ideas in their place? ...

Why isn't he doing a kickstarter for Iron Heroes 2: This Time We'll Actually Do Math and Playtesting, Pinkie Swear or something equally demeaning? The dev blog had some good changes to the game presented as going to be in 4th edition, particularly that there's no more karma ritual or durability, they just scale with your circle. But it's been "almost ready" since like mid 2014. Yep, and something about thread weaving being available...

PDF version is available for $18 on FASA's site And although I'm no luddite by any means, reading a pdf on anything but a full-page tablet is not an ideal format. My ol' Nexus 7 probably could handle whatever smaller format some of the more recent ED books have been in, but there's nothing like the...

Yah, I'm still playing a 1e Earthdawn campaign. We started it like 7-8 years ago, had a long hiatus and then started up again last year and have been going strong with regular biweekly sessions. If 4e was a substantial improvement then I could imagine us converting over, but barring that, we alread...

Calling Forth The Army Of (Thread) Decay!

Calling Forth The Army Of (Thread) Decay! Yeah, so 4th ed Player's Guide is finally out, and I'm not terribly encouraged by the things I'm hearing. I'd really like to get back into Earthdawn, and I've been doing a bit of edition shopping. Back in the day, I got several of the 1st Ed books, so I have...

Has Earthdawn 4th edition finally killed off Earthdawn?

When I look at http://earthdawn.fasagames.com/ , I get confused. No mention of 4th edition, and a hot mess of a list of prior editions. First Edition (ED1) is the original game created and published by FASA Corporation in 1993. Second Edition (ED2) was published by Living Room Games (licensed from F...

One thing that I'd forgotten about that maybe is new to 5e, would be using each ability stat as a saving throw. Maybe this isn't new at all (as I'm learning) because I dipped out of D&D just at the end of 2e and know very very little about 3e and 4e.

So what good can we take from D&D 5th edition?

I get it, everyone here (or nearly everyone) hates on 5e. It's too simplistic. It's too low power. It's another caster edition. It's broken. Big deal, there are plenty of places to bash on it. It's fun to do. But what "innovations" are there that other games could, or maybe should, adopt? ...
