Wasn't The Messenger the game that sticks you with an un-skippable Jordan Peterson rant if you interact with a cabinet too many times?

Creatures cannot be played on the stack. Unless they have an exception, they have to be played raw and outside the combat phase.

I started playing tabletop RPGs in 2008 and have never once used a paper sheet for anything or played with anyone who still does. I have a hard time imagining why someone would do that for any reason other than necessity.

PF2 has this delightful tag on every ability (not spell- every ability ) in the game with the potential to deny actions): incapacitation (trait) An ability with this trait can take a character completely out of the fight or even kill them, and it’s harder to use on a more powerful character. If a sp...

One stab won't kill a giant rat, let alone anything tougher. To be fair, giant rats are supposed to be pretty tough . "The local militia's weapons will break when hitting the giant rat " tough. That's pretty irrelevant when giant rat is RPG shorthand for "entry level jobber".

I pretty much have to wait for the Dungeon Master's Guide to do it since the game does not include NPC creation guidelines. Wait wait wait. You're saying that the 640-goddamn-page shelfbreaker that is the PF2 book isn't even the complete game? There are no rules for modifying or creating mon...

Even Inspire Courage itself still plays into that, because Paizo just couldn't help themselves and it's still a party wide accuracy and damage buff that makes all the other combat music a bad idea. The only cost effective ways to get status bonuses to hit are heroism (which climbs up to a +3 bonus t...

That's... really pathetic. You got an extradimensional mansion out of a seventh level spell in 3.5. But that's really Pathfinder all over; the developers have basically no imagination. What? Magnificent mansion is a 7th level spell in PF2 as well. This is the 9th level version, because Paizo thinks...

To be fair, that one's a legacy reference to mordenkainen's magnificent mansion . It's the slightly higher level version that makes a real mansion instead of a portal to an extradimensional space shaped like one. I'm pretty sure the level 7 version has a door that turns invisible when everyone's ins...

Certain use limited class features are called "Focus Spells", despite not all of them even resembling spells. These abilities are not listed in the only class that has access to them, they are 300 pages later at the back end of the Spells chapter. Just... why? Why organize it like that? We...

It's very dense, and they've introduced a lot of technical jargon and piles of linked traits on individual actions that are referenced by other rules. I hope you remembered to check whether every ability or item you have has the Manipulate trait, because that's one of the four criteria for determini...

Those are from the playtest. They axed the mega table and instead have a vague recommendation of simple categories without examples, and level based DCs for identifying items and stuff. Seems fine. Having a different variety of Pokemon in each game could shake strategies up, like a seasonal rotation. Having ~900 mon in each game is overkill anyway.

DSP did a psionics port for Pathfinder where they reworked all the polymorph powers to let you pick a few abilities or modifiers off of a list and everything else was cosmetic. That seems like a reasonable path as well.

I'm concerned about how tight the leash from WotC is going to be. Unless they're allowed to heavily deviate and trash almost all of the 5e mechanics, there isn't going to be a lot of room for a game in there.

Out of morbid curiosity - in an Earthdawn campaign, what do the characters do ? I've seen a fair bit of Earthdawn lore - it's the holocene climate optimum but there's magic, okay. Stupid immortal elf crap. But, in strong contrast to Shadowrun (where you go on Shadowruns), Earthdawn seems to lack a ...

I bounced off of Duelyst when it came out a few years ago, but they've had a mechanic where you shuffle a card back into your deck and draw a different one as a replacement since launch. It's digital, so they can get away with shuffling your deck at least once every turn when that would be insane wi...

The thing about Sekiro that I don't like but do like, is that actually, you aren't supposed to git gud. You are supposed to do the one specific thing that cheeses each miniboss and boss. Every boss is a really long slog of a fight even mini bosses, if you don't know their associated cheese, and the...
