Rapier and board probably (because of the defensive duelist feat). I'm not impressed by Defensive Duelist. Proficiency bonuses are thoroughly underwhelming, and dexterity is a dump stat for heavy armor users so they won't want to use finesse weapons. I think polearms might be the way to go, especia...

I've been having the same problem trying to find an interesting CRPG/MMO. Every time I try a new one I get bored before I actually get to the point i can do anything cool. While they don't have to be super powered, I want 4-6 distinctly different options a can go with out of the gate even if they w...

I've played a one-shot of 5e, and while it's a playable game unlike 4e, it does have issues. The biggest problem for me is that the modifiers are so small that you'll be failing regularly, even at things you're supposed to be good at. The people I've seen who like it are old grognards who pine for t...

One word: kalashnikov. The AK-47 is considered one of the best and most reliable rifles ever, still seeing widespread use today and with no sign of retiring anytime soon. All because its design is so good it didnt need constant reformulations, just minor tweaks here and there. BRP is the AK-47 of g...

Why the fuck are Dragonborn in this game? Dragonborn are worse than AIDS and if anyone wanted to play in my game as a Dragonborn character I would tell them to go fuck themselves. If you want to play as a Dragonborn character, you are implicitly making the confession that you are a fucking loser. F...

Sometimes the party doesn't have a choice. Maybe they made a gaff and got caught sneaking through the enemy fortress. Now the enemy has sounded the alarm and they are under attack by large numbers. Or maybe the BBG decides to hole up in his fortress with his minions(an incredibly common strategy). ...

Bounded accuracy is a shitty idea for a fantasy game because you can't name me a fantasy universe where one badass dude isn't shown taking on 30 enemies. It is the fundamental trope of the fantasy genre. The only fantasy games that fail to deliver on that trope do so as an accident of poorly design...

I kind of like the idea of bounded accuracy in theory, because verisimilitude. A DM should never throw dozens of orcs at a mid-level party, but if it did happen the orcs should have a good chance of winning. If anyone can make it work as intended, though, it definitely isn't the Usual Gang of Idiots...
