Even in a game like Crusader Kings, where having sex furthers your goal of taking over Europe through multiple generations, there's things keeping it from becoming the RaHoWa of rape. For one, you can't cast Charm Person. In addition, the ideal mates often have similar political leverage to yoursel...

I feel Schwartzy's pain, even if he gave up and left in a huffy sulk. In a recent game one of the players was looking for Mark's favorite whore. He overheard a conversation in which someone mentioned that Mark's brother knows his every move and manages his life for him. The player then decides that,...

Whatever I play, I try to make the character creepy. Like, his backstory has an element of incest or something else equally skeevy, or he has a relationship with an ineffable god who tells him what to do, or he literally eats babies when offered, or he has a massive cock and no sense of propriety. I...

I like the premise behind Exalted, both as a setting and as a system. I love the polar regions and the idea that mundane and fantastic people live throughout. I love that there is conflict everywhere without it devolving into chaos. I love that there are crazy powerful superheroes that you get to pl...

Ignoring the bonus problem for a moment, would it then be more reasonable to make toolkits that are task -oriented, then? That's basically what Bihlbo was advocating - cut out the crap that doesn't accomplish a meaningful task and limit tools to only the things that do. Which he pared down to 3 too...

A friend of mine hated the Profession skill in 3e and hates the way tools are used in 5e, so he posted this at rpg.net. The tl;dr version, near as I can tell: The tools are either good things that do stuff, or something that should be handled with MTP, because background info doesn't need to have a ...

This reminds me of adventure mode in Dwarf Fortress, where for each attack you choose a location first then an attack source. Obviously you don't want that level of detail but something like it would be really interesting. Maybe you're Conan and your attack options are: * speed 3: kick / 3 dmg (nl) ...

Actually, I've fallen into a deep depression with my life lately lately because the hypothetical scenario thrown up by the OP is so often JUST hypothetical. That's part of why I was thinking about this subject. There's no such thing as a perfect game group when it comes to our hobby, and in order t...

4 friends are DTG, so you...
The premise is that you and 4 friends are all Down To Game, have time for it, and are willing to learn and play whatever (the sluts). You don't have to run it if you don't want to, but you can. What do you choose, and why? https://opensource.com/sites/default/files/styles/image-full-size/public/imag...
