Re: Welcome Back!

They appeared correctly on the old boards, at least on my browser of choice (Windows Firefox). The example thread on the old board: https://web.archive.org/web/20130825055833/http://tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=54524 You can see the images render correctly - or at least I can at least on my browser. Re: Welcome Back!

I don't know how much you care about restoring the appearance of older threads - but if you do, there's three issue's I've noticed: - The syntax for centering lines doesn't seem to have been changed in at least some old threads - Embedded base64 image data formatting is broken (maybe not supported?)...

Cat Oven honestly could have been much less aggravating for Arena's online play if there was a default to 'always use most recently created food token automatically'. I mean, there are extremely rare corner cases where you care whether or not the food you eat is the one that was most recently summon...

Hey, you're missing out on some other "high" points about recent WOTC decisions - the company has fucked up in a lot more ways than just the financial and pricing models and story decisions... IMO, current Standard MTG is a dumpster fire of unfun repetitive garbage; a large part of this is...

Is the premise of "Software is dead" based on any real world trends? There are a few things trending that way. For some particularly intense calculations, it's more efficient to use specific hardware solutions designed from the ground up for the specific problem. One example is Bitcoin - ...

when you spread the "Random" rule around. Oh I forgot about the rule spreading bullshit. That entire mechanic was tremendously stupid and annoying. Like kind of a lot of FF8, if you spent a long time reading documentation you could break the game in half with minimal effort (in this case ...

I enjoyed the card games that showed up in FF 9 and Witcher at least. The FF8 card game was a lot less painful for me than the FF9 one. It wasn't like, a riveting gaming experience or anything, but at least it was possible to learn and fully understand the rules in a couple minutes, making it infin...

It's going to be non-trivial distinguish that sort of thing. There are costs and benefits from trying to distinguish the ascetic wilderness flavour of monk (e.g. Yamabushi) from more monastary-centric groups on a mechanical level. Your eastern fantasy probably should be able to support Benkei (or ra...

Another thing to note with analysis of aggro decks, in addition to Tempo and Reach advantages you wrote about already: aggro decks usually go comparatively mana-light, and they get more cards that do non-mana-generating things per card drawn over the course of a game. The monoblue and monored aggro ...

Later on into the game there's eventually a computer that you can buy that is supposed to have a better chance of acquiring skills off of parts - COMG10

I don't know what the actual chances are by default or with the acquiring computer. A lot of the important game mechanics are super opaque.

It's been a while since FM3 for me, but back in the day I played through both campaigns twice each, for a total of an ungodly number of hours in the game. I am *pretty sure* that you don't need a matched pair of arms to learn moves. You can mix and match them. At least one gamefaqs writer seems to b...

There's two different ways things can be imbalanced and they are important and distinctly different. The first is that a thing can be too weak. It sucks, and it's a problem, if an option is presented as valid by the game but is actually so weak that it's not a real valid option in high competence pl...

It's true that you do take some friendly damage. Marshmasters have 10 resist which is usually enough, and they'll probably be your entire battle mage corps. Losing a few troops is unfortunate but Foul Vapors being on the battlefield at all means that you're probably doing most of your melee fighting...

MA C'tis is one of my favourite suggestions for learning the game. Their magic is simple but strong. They can just drop a bunch of research into Enchantment and be mostly fine, maybe supplement a little with Evocation and other battle magic later on. Every major battle you get Marshmasters to spam o...

The Dominions series (latest entry - Dominions 5) does this as well. I really enjoyed the Median XL mod for Diablo 2. It fully replaces all skills and items in the game, and adds in a ton of new content including dozens of endgame quests / dungeons / bosses that are often very challenging but are also extremely rewarding - think Diablo 2's Pandemonium events, but muc...

Every time people reference Isaac Asimov's three laws seriously in a discussion about the future, I wince.
