The Spanish are best on Viceroy only if you are going to try to bootstrap off the backs of helpless Indians and then turtle for approximately forever. The bonus does really matter there; two dragoons and a cannon will get mauled by most Indian cities. Europeans will come to fuck with you pretty much...

I noticed the Dutch were pretty dominating...lots of money and not having to buy a decent ship (i.e., another few thousand gold) are just so much better than extra immigrants (not even a thousand gold), happy natives (worth even less), and bonus when attacking native settlements (useless even if yo...

I needed a refresher on the Loren Coleman clusterfuck and then I read the entire thread in three days and someday I hope to waste as much of your lives as that wasted mine.

I used LaTeX through college, but I still find it sort of dense after years of using it. These days I'm a big fan of InDesign, if you can get ahold of it. I get it through work, but by itself it is pretty pricey.

My takeaway from this is that Frank needs to get a copy of Unwired typeset in Da Vinci Forward Regular for Christmas.

Oh, yeah, I'm sure it's been modded heavily and is no doubt much better. I remember when it was first released, though, and you literally couldn't win. The game calculated Liberty Bells wrong so you could never hit 50% to declare independence, and the King's army kept getting bigger anyway so it was...

You could possibly go as far as reverting the Essence mechanic and make it an attribute similar to Magic, that one must increase with Karma to pack more augmentations. I'm fucking around with an early prototype of isometric fantasy-cyberpunk RPG that's sort of trying to be the digital version of CP...

Mostly a taste thing, I guess. Once you get up past a certain point I've found that one of relatively few things that consistently pose a real "oh shit" threat against higher-end samurai is a magician. I like having that tool in the toolbox. There's an argument that implants that improve W...

I'd be a little concerned about implants for some skills and attributes. Like, I feel a little weird about having Willpower be enhanceable, due to its role in magic defense - I'm not sure about having cyberware being able to improve your chances against a manabolt.

I picked up Colonization for $2 off of GoG. It's amazing, the design is deeply flawed, but Sid Meier "fixes" it with less annoying flaw, putting hard cap on the game once revolution comes...and you have to have a revolution at some point. The original Colonization is still one of my favor...

So I was reading some older stuff in order to not be a complete idiot and I stumbled across this: I hope we can get a regular series of things like this. Can someone do WoD? We'll have to do so many of them for WoD. nWoD and oWoD fal in surprisingly different ways often enough. And Promethean needs ...

Nobody pays a lot of attention to the IT grunts, especially not when they come in through a contractor (Snowden worked for Booz Allen Hamilton).

I was thinking along the lines of a non-lethal, fairly agonizing thresher with an affinity for his crotchular region, if that helps.

I knew him when he was on Ars. Tremendous bag of shit. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

(Which isn't to say I think those leaks were wrong, I think they were a decent idea. I just hope he falls into a thresher.)

I signed up for an account (after being directed by a friend of mine to the tire fire that is the Shadowrun thread) solely to applaud one of the more terrifying tangents I have ever seen on a forum.

You people are my kind of psychotic asylum escapees.
