And finally, Therion: I see that Therion's deity demands personal victory as his petition, and given that Therion is a ruthless combatant Fafnir may have mistaken his willingness to kill for his god as a sign of his hunger for glory. (My fourth bond) What do you guys think? Absolutely. In turn, The...

Wouldn't that just make the game feel homogenous, though? If the dragon can drop some HP to stop a failed save, then that's going to happen every time, so it changes from trying to put the dragon into stasis and stab him to a grindfest. Might be better if it just let it ignore the effect temporaril...

Each card was also a hangman or whatever, so it doubled as plot suggestion. Tabling the question of whether *World has crappy mechanics , why can't you randomize "what happens next?" instead of "did I succeed?" Its a question of player, including the GM, agency in the story and ...

I can tell you from experience that doesn't work. The only rejoinder I can think of is "At least it didn't suck." That's kinda the point you were making. :/ Back on topic, though! The local Baron wants an entire regiment of trained and tamed owlbears for his cavalry to ride. You and your ...

Actually, since this a vampire daughter, you'd probably want to polymorph yourself into a somewhat nerdy teen with a flair for gothic attire and self-esteem issues.

Evil Human Cleric here.

Erm, willing to change if anyone had their heart set on the class, though.

Something that makes maps that are ultra-sharable is the ideal; if I end up having to put pictures on Photobucket and link to them, MS-Paint would be perfectly fine. If you use the Scene Viewer you can host the map somewhere then everyone can move their token as they take their turn. Of course, it'...

At least we can burn the wall. In this cold, cruel world that's a small comfort I'm happy to cling to.

Ok, here's what I don't get. Where are the business people? Why is no one pointing out that they're making no money and no one likes their product? This has got to be worse than the times the fired the head of 4e every year. Other than Enworld I can't find a forum actually interested in it, and eve...

1. There don't seem to be any secrets in there, feel free to read it. 2. The game lets you play an Evil character for certain classes, so it is acceptable. Who am I to judge? So, it looks like certain logistics problems should be solved in advance: There's a bit where it says the GM is supposed to ...

Is that really going to work, though? That backfired spectacularly when Final Fantasy XIV tried it. How spectacularly? FFXI got an expansion after FFXIV was released; FFXIV got the design team fired with Squeenix issuing an apology. Honestly? With as big of a catastrofuck as the rules look right no...

Looks like their following the new trend in PC gaming of selling you the demo, then selling you the rest of the game in pieces, in light of your edited post. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if the talking heads in charge are considering a strategy of having the rules just be a moving target th...

You would need to read most of the rules: http://book.dwgazetteer.com/ and then make a character soon so I can get this game started. No problemo. I'll have a character ready by this time tomorrow. [EDIT] Oh, two questions: 1. Would you prefer I skip reading the GM's section? 2. Would an ...

Do you intend to be entertained as a player, or just as an observer? Also, it looks like we'll probably be playing Dungeon World, even though I seem to remember claims that it doesn't quite capture all of the ineffable Apocalypse World experience. I'd be interested in joining in on a Dungeon World ...

Precisely seven leagues, no more, no less?

[Edit]

Cover every building with a thin layer of spikes that really hurt could work as a deterrent as they have to land on the topmost stable surface.

Or maybe rings of moats around anything actually important.

They're figuring out how they can sell you the core rules for the game without any of the bits actually necessary to play it such as classes, items, and monsters. Maybe "You can play a fighter when you buy the fighter miniature with the Fighter rule book." Oh, but there;ll be separate spla...

Lago, would it be workable if the monster could disperse its actions through a given round but only rolled once to save for the round instead of each time it took an action, or would that still hose "Save-or-Suck" effects in the face of "Screwed 'til start of my next turn" effects?

All below is jm2c, take it with a grain of salt. :) For this week's Legends & Lore, I thought I'd do something a little different. As part of our internal playtesting, we often cobble together ideas and test them out before formalizing their design. If something flat-out doesn't work at the tabl...

You've each been hired by different barony to investigate a sudden halt of goods coming from a major trade hub that connects to each of the different baronies. Upon arriving you find the town- -under siege by orcs. You're behind their lines, not far from their siege engines. Was that a rustling you ...
