So, given it's an RPG by SquareEnix that isn't Dragon Quest, I figure Bravely Default is close enough to talk about in this thread. Is it any good? Someone recommended I tjeck it out, and I'm not sure. On the one hand, I've kind of lost interest in jRPGs (tacticals all the way!), on the other hand,...

Okay, seriously, are you sure your players will be okay with this stuff? Yes. Well, not perfectly fine because the last "magical realm" happened 3 weeks ago, and they kinda forgot about how things work when "magical realm long and slimy" stuff happens. And i like to surprise the...

Something Atmo didn't mention is that Mahou Shoujo Ai is tentacle porn. The other two are, too. Basic answer is Fate Accelerated or Fate Core with a low stat array and low starting refresh. The tentacle bits you're gonna have to clear with your players, but Fate's something where the states leading...

Err. I've never heard of any of those systems, unfortunately. Could you sketch how a typical complete plot arc goes? Like... how involved is the investigative phase? How much combat is there? Do people fight supermonsters or hordes of weak monsters? Do people have a lot of distinct equipment? What?...

Wait what did Vaan do that was of any real importance? I don't really even think of him as a 'real' main character and I don't really believe he did anything special except hang out with 'real' main characters. I think he was the "link" between player and Ivalice, a John Doe who doesn't k...

Mahou Shoujo advice

So, i'm thinkering witthin an one-shot (or two-shot) based on Mahou Shoujo Isuka, Mahou Shoujo Elena and Mahou Shoujo Ai to two players. Which system should i use? How strong the monsters have to be? They know i'm preparing a Mahou Shoujo game, but they don't know about the bad ending array i have p...

She is one of the few blondies on FF that deserves her power and spotlight. Kinda. • Cloud was... a cloud. • Vaan is a boy involved in something HUGE, someone kill this kid ASAP (but Penelo is ok). • Tidus is a dream, hah! • Zidane is cool, at least Genome Thieves weren't a fever before him. And i d...

This "review" is horrible and obviously is just an advertisement. The author almost wets his pants in adulation for the game. True, but... Contradictory quotes like: "While 13th Age doesn’t abandon miniatures (they’re optional) it does abandon the grid." yet "If an orc is n...

Is this another post to "give us insight about the true RPGs: *World games"?

Is this another silva post that he gives a unilateral point of view about something then bashes the main issue with a *World book?

Re: I cant stand complex combat sub-systems anymore

So, to sum it up: I dont have patience for hour long combat anymore, neither for highly granular sub-systems full of mathematical options. 1 - Laconic is the future. Laconic is love. 2 - Don't play these games with combat ON, then. 3 - Continue playing those games, without engaging on combat. 4 - D...

Re: So you're playing [Apocolypse World].

Please give me some advice, thanks. :) honestly you shouldn't worry about your character being over powered *World mechanics are basically MTP anyway. If the MC wants you to succeed at a thing you'll succeed. It's a pretty bad system but if your friends heart is set on it I guess you'll just have t...

The whole concept where you give up permanent HP or BAB was totally stupid. A magic sword is supposed to make you a better warrior, that's kind of the whole point. If the sword actively diminishes your fighting ability, it defeats the whole purpose of making your sword better. Probably the original...

Roguelike video games don't have save points. When you die your character file is recorded as a high score with name and class/race, then deleted. Guess how popular Roguelikes are with the open market? I think Nethack gives you the Ghosts/Phantoms: characters that died on lower than 5 levels that c...

I did create a save point system for my OVA game were people could see what could happen to then if a choice in some areas could lead to a bad ending. Well, i didn't had the chance to use it yet because i'm waiting to the players to forget i created this system... When the right time come, they will...
