OK, I think we're fixed. There may be some intermittent cases when you press the "submit" button and it take for-fucking-ever, and then gives a "500 server error." If that happens, your post will still go through. I don't expect that situation to last too much longer, but wanted...

I think thats what alignment was suppose to be. People qns monsters like being around folks of the same alignment and will agree on actions that approve of their alignment. Well, maybe... In any case, alignment obviously failed in that respect, as it was overly restrictive and too vague at the same...

Re: The problem of social systems

No one likes it when the results are morally hidious You wouldn't think that would be a thing you'd have to say. But apparently it is. People keep coming back to the "social combat" metaphor, and that pretty much goes straight to "rape simulator" with shocking speed. I think &qu...

that doesn't make sense to me... how is it any different if this dude has some feats or instead class features?

sorry, that was presumptuous.

OgreBattle wrote:Zugachef, why do you feel like a scout should be a separate class from fighter but illusionists, summoners, evokers, enchanters, diviners, are all ok as options for one wizard class?
Actually I would make the step and make the illusionist, evoker, transmuter, etc. their own class.

Actually my response is... mine is better than MTP and his is worse than MTP.
Acutally your system is MTP with rules attached, for if the players don't like what the GM is MTPing up.

If you "lose" to the Elf King, you abandon your zombie uprising quest and start doing shit for the Elf King. Or you dont even roll and he helps you because it seems sensible and the GM decides it sounds good. Why do you even have a social system, when you openly admit that the core of you...

So, are you saying that, for example, the scout would eventually be able to select 10 abilities from a list of 20 scout-only abilities? and that's the only list you can choose from? I.e., that is how you customize your character so that your scout doesn't look like every single other scout? I have ...

MTP is not making choices. You are not MTPing the shit out of Settlers of Catan when you ask for wheat for bricks, but you would be if you suddenly declared that there was a Communist regime change and started grabbing everyone's wheat cards. And that's because the rules for Settlers of Catan doesn...

the generic approach, in my opinion, is made of suck. compare dnd to gurps: which one is easier to just pick up and play? the optimization game is fun for a lot of people, but is it really totally depending on feats? i mean, a wizard's spell book is way more important to how powerful he is, than his...

Class Features vs. Feats

When I began to reflect upon 3rd Edition rules, the first thing which seemed totally arbitrary was the distinction between a class feature and a feat. This lead to the question: Why design a class based game and then decide to include a generic part? Is it not much more desirable to design a scout c...
