You know I've been wondering about the Poison thing too. Under "Bite Of The Serpent" it says that Toxic poison causes the victim to suffer damage, and it's description under Poisons lists a Delay of 0 with a timer of ten rounds and a note of "Agony" (whatever that means). So seri...

New Campaign, Old Stuff

So this friend of mine invited me to join his D&D campaign. The party is at level 12 right now, and though the setting is largely original, the rules are (mostly) core stuff. Normally, I'd just use Wish economy to break the game entirely, but there is one particular house rule he mentioned - Wis...

Re: If It's All About Fighting, Then How About... Social Com

Okay, I get the point that my original idea isn't going to work worth a crap. Can anyone tell me how to actually make this whole 'doing things without killing everything in my path' thing work? Because normally in D&D... it doesn't.

Scrolling through the responses I've gotten here...[br][br]PhoneLobster - I think you may have missed my point. If everyone gets a Social rank and the Socialist just gets more, then everyone can still contribute during a talking situation. Everyone can help the Craftsman make his crafting rolls, and...

If It's All About Fighting, Then How About... Social Combat?

As Frank pointed out in some other thread, characters should have two classes: a combat class, and a non-combat class. I can't find the thread, so if anyone could tell me where it is, that'd be great. On to the point now.[br][br]D&D is, at its heart, a wargame. It's all about fighting. But not e...

Wouldn't that also require the caster to be there and alter the spell to create the necessary effects or, gods forbid, cast the spell once per visual frame of the victim's optic receptors?[br][br]On that note, how many frames per second does a Beholder get? Anyone?[br][br]I have to go with RC on thi...

Re: The Unborn

I was kind of thinking of making it a sort of gestalt-class as a template thing. You'd start off as a level 1 whatever-base-class and a level 1 Unborn, and get basic abilities. Say, increased STR in fiend form and fast healing in fiend form, maybe. And I agree that you shouldn't be limited by a spec...

Water gets a spell called, "With Water I Strike You With Lightning". What the balls is that supposed to be anyway?[br][br]Water also gets this command spell, which doesn't make any sense conceptually or mechanically, but is still a fvcking great spell.[br][br]"With Water I Command You...

Re: Some feats I whipped up for a Tome Series game

The spell-like ability has a restriction. It can only be use a number of times per day equal to ten minus the spell level. It says it right there.

Heheheh... 'With Fire I Entrance You'. I love that spell.[br][br]More importantly, though, stop trying to do everything right off the bat . You seriously need to focus, dude. We had 40-point characters that were useful at a 200+ event because we had focus. Keep focus, keep good. Start going all over...

Re: It's all about having fun... so why am I complaining?

You know, there are people, myself among them, who say that D&D is a very different game at 15th level than it is at first. The truth is, it's really not. D&D is, straight from first level to whatever level you choose to end at, a game about breaking into people's homes, stabbing them in the...

Okay, you know what? This isn't going to work. At least, not like this. I'll get to work on assigning abilities according to HD later. I can make this work... somehow.

Re: The Unborn

Okay, so here's a sample of what I think we can do with this. I'll list a base creature stat-block first (2nd level human rogue) and I'll use the Elite Array, then I'll list the rules I've come up with so far for the template, then I'll apply the template and list the two seperate statblocks.[br][br...

Re: Does the term "race" ever bother you in gaming?

Yeah, I seriously think of orcs as Warhammer and Warhammer 40k Orcs.[br][br]I really think that the guys at Games Workshop took a whole new spin on the fantasy races and made them something unique back in the 70's and 80's and kept going along their own progressive path until what we have now.[br][b...

Re: The Unborn

Okay, so here's the general idea. Fiends (demons, devils, yugoloths, damodreds, Richard Simmons) are somehow created. Maybe they're individually forged from the essence of souls on their plane, maybe they're brewed in industrial vats, maybe they spontaneously poof into existance, whatever. Logically...

The Unborn

Anyone here ever played any of the Bloody Roar series of games? They're 3D fighting games, and they have a cool (if overused by now) concept; human fighters that can temporarily turn into a kind-of were-beast form to gain added power. Every character for the game had a certain concept.[br][br]There ...

Hey! Multiclassing was a good idea!

Just the idea, though. The mechanics blow.

Also, the last post there made by my account was Judging Eagle. I've got to stop letting him use my computer.

Re: What WotC ruling was the final straw for you?

For me it was the fact that a Nat 1 was an auto-miss or auto-fail on a save.[br][br]Really, a -"10" instead of a -"Infinity" is much more reasonable.[br][br]That and the very people who designed this game do not even use the rules in a manner that affects their game worlds.[br][b...

Ah, but that's just Batman trying to fool you, don't you see? He makes it seem like he and MacGyver have different schticks, but really, he's one and the same, and so he's doing to make it seem like they're different people.

Actually, errors would be significantly increased if they had a system more definitive than the current one, but only checked over as much.
