As one of the new members, I shouldn't have expected to do anything. I had a purpose (correct misconceptions), but I'd have probably been more successful purposefully trolling you all. That said, what is the purpose of TGD? Is it to influence game design? Not fucking likely. Is it to put something e...

Doesn't your example of the 4E Rogue/buffer in regards to duration conflict with "You can write all the same abilities, and you've got that much less accounting to do." It's patently obvious that having two end phases adds more utility to the game and allows designers to develop more, and ...

Likewise, you have no evidence leading you to believe 4E players use Google. 4E players don't have to search for character sheets, pdfs, or character generators on Google because it's all on the WotC site. Actually, if a player wants 4E stuff the quickest search is "D&D" or "dnd&q...

I'm not defending 4E, and haven't said anything as crazy as "we can't talk about the success of 4E because we aren't WotC." What I am still saying is we don't know the full sales numbers or play stats for 4E, Pathfinder, 3E, or 3.5, and until we do we can't making accurate or reliable stat...

It's funny Aryxbez that you're trying to tell Simon how to do his job. I'm not saying it's funny because he's quite clearly good at what he does and who the fuck are you? Because that's a dumb thing for me to say, as I have no idea who you are or what you've done, and I'm very cognizant of the fact ...

What the fuck are you smoking? I, and others, have repeatedly stated the game does not feel like, or play like, 4E. In fact, part of my playtest feedback is that 13th Age lacks the sort of gameplay I get from 4E. A lot of the things 4E did wrong 13th Age is getting right. Anyone who believes 13th Ag...

So feel free to tell that guy to fuck off, but if he calls you a fuckwit and then tells you why, read that too. I did read his post, both of them. He was useless in the first, and wrong in the second. So fuck him. And probably you for your patronizing tone, but I can't tell if you're trying to be h...

I assumed you were calling me wrong about the multiple end-of-turn phases thing, which is what I responded to. If so, what the fuck straw? If not, be clearer. Effects that end at the start of your next turn can be used for leader types, and promote team work. Effects that end at the end of your next...

How about, and here's an idea, don't be a fucking idiot? Having two pennies is provably more money than having one penny, but it's still such an insignificant amount it takes no measurable amount of extra book keeping to track. I'm not functionally retarded, so I guess that makes me perfect for game...

Again, go fuck yourself. Condescending me (as you did) doesn't help anything. Personal attacks aren't super useful, but telling you to go fuck yourself was warranted. I probably shouldn't have, but it seems to be modus operandi here and you got my goat. Of course it took you little time to find the ...

You can google up the court documents yourself in about 5 minutes. Politely, go fuck yourself. The poster made a claim without support, and I'm not going to take the time to look for that specific document to which he refers. You imply it is trivial to find the information, a statement which Google...

You know what's stupid? Making up arguments. I've never once mentioned 4E's sales figures in regards to 3E's (if I have, I've forgotten). 1, 2, and 3 are all very useful. But we need all of the data from all of the game shops and distributors, and conventions (did I forget any legitimate retailers) ...

The same thing that I have (probably) argued in every post. 4E did not do as well as WotC wanted. It might done poorly, but we have no reliable indication of how exactly the game has done. Not these stats, not the sales figures from shop owners, and not the ICV2 claim can be relied upon to measure 4...

Yeah, but the importance isn't that the SRD is or is not on some company's website. The point is that they exist at all. The 4rries who refuse to accept that this is another piece of evidence that 4th edition just is not very popular and never was are claiming that 4th edition has online tools so g...

To be fair though, Pathfinder isn't much of a start up. It's published by Paizo, which at one time was one of the largest publishers of 3.5 material. And it was written by some of the biggest names in gaming. The data is certainly interesting, and nice to have, but it's misleading and the accompanyi...

Seriously, find the part in my post where I said "13th age is terrible and should be set on fire." I didn't. Because I haven't seen the actual rules. But if those are valid playtest characters which are fairly representative of the icon system? Then the icon system has problems. That is m...

How did you find the Pathfinder SRD? Did you get there via the Paizo website? Nope. How do you get to the 4E Compendium? Via the WotC website. The difference is a 4E player only ever has to know one site for *all* of their D&D needs. Whether or not the PFSRD is better than DDI, DDI gets less Goo...

You can't fucking say, "it's okay because it's optional ." I'm not trying to be dickish about it, but that's not a solution and your insistence that it is is just not very well thought out. These are flaws in the rules that they allow you to do these things, and when people choose to do t...

Again, you are only the Chosen One if you want to be. Absolutely *nothing*, not one damnable thing, in the rule book says a PC must be the Chosen One. If you think it's dumb, don't play a Chosen One. It's not a part of the game, but people who like that idea will go ahead and add it anyways.

The stats are neat, but ultimately misleading. 4E has no OGL, merely an unsupported GSL, and everything you need to know is already on the WotC website . There's not much to search for, which doesn't mean people aren't playing it (as Awesome Dice wants you to think). People google stuff no matter i...

Darth Vader fights named characters on camera in every movie. Hell, he is beaten in spaceship fighter battles in the very first movie. He is not an unbeatable, unstatted character. So he's not an Icon . He has stats. He can go directly against the PCs and lose, and he does . He pilots a TIE Advance...

And... no. LotR's back story isn't Gandalf's Story. Wheel of Endlessness doesn't give a rats ass about the Queen of Whichever Fucking City, Pre-Conan doesn't go on at length about Thulsa Doom's teenage years and no one gives two shits about how Palpatine became a Senator. LotR absolutely is. Everyt...
