Re: The Totally Insane Initiate of Mystra Feat
Assume that the Cleric is smart enough to Widen his AMFs, so they're 20 feet wide, rather than 10. BAM! Your entire argument vanishes with a single metamagic feat and a "kick it up a notch!".[br][br]Oh, wait, the fighter could be using ranged weapons. Great, what's the best a Fighter can d...

Re: Ess' Project Class #10: The Fighter
After discussing this class on Nifty, I've come to the conclusion that the 19th level ability needs to be replaced with this one:[br][br] Skilled Wielder : At 19th level and beyond, the fighter gains a cumulative +1 bonus to each attack in a full attack action. Attacks made at the fighter's highest ...

There's a feat called Multispell. It lets wizards cast another spell each round (quickened). Should there be a feat for Fighters that allows them another iterative attack each round? [br][br]In theory, a wizard will run out of spells. A fighter doesn't run out of sword. Is this supposed to be some s...

Ess' Class Project #9: The Druid
Ahh, the Druid, the one class whose class features I didn’t change…much. Even with the modifications that I made, the Druid remains the bar by which I measured all of the other classes in this project. The two most significant changes I made: I totally revised the animal companion (now works like th...

I took Oberoni's comments into account, and reposted. [br][br]I'm still mulling on Frank's. I have a fundamental difference in design intent, I think. Ess' Project Class #8: the Courtier
The Courtier (Rokugan, Swashbuckling Adventures) is an excellent idea behind a class, but D&D is no place for an idle courtesan who can talk, but can’t contribute anything else to a fight. This Courtier has been powered up significantly, and hasn’t lost a single one of it’s normal abilities. The...

So, really, the problem with unarmed combat is that there is a balancing act that has to be pulled between 1) being an effective melee combatant and 2) being penalized for not needing equipment.[br][br]The answer that WotC seems to be pulling for is the invention of alternate equipment for unarmed f...

Re: Ess' Project Class #6: The Channeler
Having Wisdom instead of Armor means that you are behind in AC until your Epic AC increases to over 200. [br][br]The problem is that your math doesn't apply here, because the Channeler isn't paying money for armor enhancement bonuses, deflection bonuses, or stat-boosing items -- because he can pers...

So, Frank, how would you propose fixing the Channeler (without making it any better at or more reliant upon spellcasting)? Ess' Project Class #7: The Cleric
The Cleric class is largely unmodified, but deserves posting regardless, simply to display the tiny additional powers that I figured needed to be added to bring the Cleric up to the Druid’s level. It’s not much, and it’s all at the end of the class (in order to have something to sacrifice to a PrC)....

Ess' Project Class #6: The Channeler
OK, time to get back to this project. It’s been on the shelves for a long time, and I’m sure I’ll be erratic about posting these, but I’ve heard tell that some people are asking about the other 45 classes, so I’ll keep on pushing ahead, albeit slowly. I agree with the Guest. THF is not exclusive with S&B. Neither if TWF. But THFers can actually afford the animated shield, which TWFers generally cannot.[br][br]Falchion+Animated Tower Shield is still less expensive than Rapier x2, does equitable damage under most circumstances, and has more AC....

And yet you have failed to name even one circumstance where a straight Mage can out-stealth a Trixter or a straight Rogue can out-damage a Trixter. And in all cases, you have ignored the best aspect of the high-levelled AT, and that is his unparalleled ability to scout/recon and be the transport/mo...

Re: Poll: What's in a Race?
Personally, I think humans, elves, and dwarves are on par with each other, and that all races need to be brought up to their level. Humans don't seem like much out of context, but their racial profile allows them to qualify for an assload of PrCs before anyone else can, and that's no small advantage...
