Wait...so because Diplomacy is an Instantaneous effect, Charm X doesn't fail when confronted with Magic Circle ?[br][br]I'm afraid I don't follow you, Frank.[br][br]In fact, a brief search through the SRD revealed exactly zero core Enchantment spells that are Instantaneous. And if the Charm X never ...

Iron Heroes?
Hey, all. I just flipped through Iron Heroes (Malhavoc) for the first time, and offhand, I'm already eager to try it out. I don't have the time or energy to offer a breakdown beyond the basics: no magic equipment, only one magic class; the book stresses non-magic classes and offers a huge variety of...

I posted this over on Nifty as a contest entry, and I thought that Frank should get the chance to see it, as it's totally in homage to him.[br][br][br]* * * *[br][br]The Kobold Rapper[br][br][br] “Unh!” the little reptilian bastard shouted emphatically.[br]“What? Re: Does banning raise dead effects actually make the game m
The most effective form of synergy is having three casters throwing out different-saved SoD spells in the same round. Anything Fighter-types can come up with "synergize" with each other is pale nuts in comparison.
IMX, of course.

Re: Does banning raise dead effects actually make the game m
In real life, the only reason people don't die more often is that we have a moral code that tells you not to kill your fellow humans. That's why dehumanization is the first step to every lethal conflict, across history, world-wide.[br][br]D&D starts on the premise that the people that aren't &qu...

Re: D&D never stops being playable.
The funny thing is, the CL-pumped Blasphemy is a perfect foil to the Epic summoning chains. And a Swift Silence is a really simple counter to the CL-pumped Blasphemy . [br][br]The spell-like Wish , I have to admit, I've never had anyone attempt. But seriously, it's not that different from being an E...

D&D never stops being playable.
I've been playing for some time now, and I have to say that the more I play, the more I realize that D&D never stops being playable.[br][br]I keep hearing people say this. "D&D is unplayable past level 14." "D&D breaks at level 12." This is crap.[br][br]D&D is pla...

Re: Confusion. And a small rant about choices.
What most people (myself included, admittedly) forget about "Evil" is that Evil people have relationships just like Good people. Some of the most Evil NPCs in my games have been "defeated" by the PCs taking advantage of the fact that they are, despite their alignment, still part ...

Re: Tome of Fiends Draft Copy
I'm trying to blame my total miss of Dimensional Lock on the Summoner spell list on the fact that it's not capitalized in the "srd" that DragonChild posted. That's all.

Summoner questions:[br][br]1) How is Extend Summoning supposed to be a useful feature? Quick question - when using Combat School to daze someone, do you also deal normal damage on that strike? Similarly, when using Subtle Cut?[br][br]The only way I can see these two being balanced appropriately for their BAB requirements is if Combat School is just a daze, while Subtle Cut dazes and d...

Irrelevant. The comparison in question is not between the Fighter and the Samurai, but between the Samurai who is using the classic Katana (x2 multiplier) and the Samurai who is using the provably superior Scythe (x4). Re: Races of War
Yes and no. I have been thinking about this issue for a while. For the most part, it's acutally not so bad to use high threat range weapons, since the majority of the Samurai's attacks are Attacks of Opportunity. You cannot use the Kiai! ability on AoOs. [br][br]Irrelevant. While it's kinda nice to...
