Annoyingly enough, the *devs* care a lot about competitive PvP. They apparently do large multiplayer battles regularly, and a couple of different streamers I watch who regularly play Paradox games have noted the direct line from events in these multiplayer matches to patch notes.

To this day, I'm irritated by the completely undeveloped "Australia is dead!" non-hook. The presentation was so sparse as to make the phenomenon useless from a GM-perspective, and if it were truly interesting, a writer would be obligated put additional information about running an adventu...

Haven't seen RoS yet (wife doesn't want to spend money on it, and I tend to agree on this point). Personally, I'd argue that the Sequels are a bad story told mediocrely, but with great production values.

Also could just be maximum level ADD. One of the hallmark problems for ADD is a need for constant stimulation to maintain focus. If the game on the table is insufficiently stimulating, it can lead to boredom (people with ADD have a wildly lowered boredom threshold compared to NT people), which leads...

Goodness, that (I hesitate to call it a novel) piece of garbage sounds like the sort of thing I'd ditch within half an hour of sitting down to read it.

Having just spent the last weekend wandering about the Nova Open, talking with a bunch of 40K and 40K-adjacent players, I have some thoughts here. First: 40K proper remains huge, and continues to sell many many models. Nova had over 160 tables of 40K proper, plus side rooms for Kill Team and Necromu...

Bloodstained is *basically* Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow with the serial numbers filed off. Multiple weapon options, quests for NPCs, every monster has a magical shard to collect...it hits all the same points. If you liked DoS (which I did), it's a pretty sweet game. If you've played any 'metroidvani...

Having had occasion to *work* with Orson Scott Card (it was a theater thing)...dude is kind of an asshole in person. But then you read anything he writes on the internet about the real world...and he is a complete trash fire. His middlingly-interesting sci-fi novels do not make up for his being this...

Okay, what? GOG is not CDPR. GOG is not CDPR's only outlet (since you can get the Witcher games on Steam). GOG is also a pretty sizable storefront for a lot of devs these days. If you have a problem with CDPR (which is fair), take it out on them. But taking GOG to task for CDPR's misdeeds is a reall...

I will note that this game has one thing going for it that even Shadowrun doesn't: In a stat + skill system, they give you benchmarks for the stat + skill, as opposed to SR's skill-only benchmarks. Pulling out CP2020 (the previous version of this system), this is even an improvement over that, for t...

If you haven't played Titan Quest, but you like Diablo II, play Titan Quest. Full stop. Notice I said 'if you like Diablo II'. TQ is great! But the systems involved are much less forgiving than Diablo III's. Skill point allocation is a serious question, rune socketing is a semi-permanent proposition...

Gaming grade PC hardware is just straight up painfully expensive these days. It sucks. On the upside, hardware *needs* haven't increased anywhere near as much as they could have - since most games these days are multi-releases with the consoles, as long as you end up with hardware as good as a PS4/X...

Cyberpunk (2013 or 2020) has pretty solid artwork. It's basically all B/W lineart, but some of it is really quite good, and very little of it is raw garbage. That said, the line has a significant problem: none of the art subjects are reused. They reused specific pieces plenty of times (that one woma...
