No, I am going to tell your shitty face that you're an idiot for forcefeeding us your magical flail instead of dropping stuff we want. I'll tell the other players that a DM that is unable to pick gear we like as loot is a bad DM, and offer to DM myself, showing them how to make the game more fun. A...

Barbie is a Mattel product, actually. But anyway, yeah, in business a lot of things come down to opportunity costs and Hasbro's games and puzzles division simply hasn't been a point of strength over the last couple years although one would think that is more attributable to lagging sales on their bi...

As my thread indicated I'd definitely be up for After Sundown since that'd give me a minimum of rules to re-acquaint myself with.

Quantum beat me to it. But really, it's sticky AND some brands come wrapped in aluminum. I've always stuck with male characters before because I'm lazy and sort of like physically identifying with my characters to a degree but more than a few times I've considered playing a female because you could ...

With holograms one would think a cactus; they don't move and you don't have to beat the same sort of uncanny valley threshold as you would with a human; people might have a good idea of what a prickly pear looks like but they're not as likely to pick up on a bad prickly pear as they are a human that...

Forgive me, my Shadowrun experience is second hand at best. Can you expand on why there isn't meaningful advancement in Shadowrun? Is it a limit of buying things individually, or that the system doesn't really progress in abilities as something like D&D does? Both, more or less. It's a skill ba...

What class and lifestyle is he pursuing as he works his way up to Arcanamach? If you're just looking for something for a proto-germanic warrior order to do it'd be easy to whip up an order that enforces weregild and blood debts.

If you give everyone a way of getting around every situation than that's just going to lead to the guy who really understands the system solving every scenario without even having to bother talking to anyone else much like how sufficiently high level wizards do in D&D. Meanwhile if team avatar n...

Or we could put our benders all on a relatively even keel but with a few checks and balances (as much as I generally dislike "rock/paper/scissors design") and adjust where needed to generate the same effect. Yeah, that's pretty much what Lago is suggesting with the benders. In Avatar each...

So... I got bumped from the game because I didn't have a coherent enough backstory. I"m calling sour grapes because who the fuck takes you out of a game because your backstory isn't good. I bet if I had said that I woke up without any memory of my past, then the dm would jump all over that lik...

That's really the core issue that spawned that awful dumpshock post I referenced in the "Ideas that need to go away" thread. The topic that started it was the issue of a "low charisma" player playing a socially adept character, a problem that for the most part goes away if the MC...

It's really one of those points where the issue becomes clearer if you look at lower powered settings or character examples and start dreaming up unintended consequences and implications from there. For example, giving a mounted warrior a bow when he already has a lance won't add any pluses to their...

I think social skills are one of the most misunderstood aspects of the game. They are not mind control and should not be treated as such, and sometimes NPCs will react to a good social roll in a way not intended by the face. For instance, an elf pornomancer who seduces a Humanis goon won't have him...

Some hand antiseptic gel or wipes and chewing gum. A nice thing about hand antiseptic is that since it's 60%+ alcohol you can make some very nice tinder with it and it often makes more sense for a character have it on hand than some survival gear.

I'm willing to bet then that my experiences were mostly due to being part of a full-on melee train with fighters that appeared to be fueled by bullshit and the tears of their enemies.

If it's any consolation, if other leaders needed to heal that much, they might fail. But that's the part where the Warlord just tells the RNG to go fuck itself while the ranger(s) do their multi-attack bullshit comes in.

Well, from here it looks pretty non-sensical to say that you must be screwing up if you don't need to be dropping clutch heals on the damage you're taking, although I suppose you may mean the DM is softballing the group or something. My 4e experience is admittedly fairly minimal and by now probably ...

Yeah, stress shouldn't be involved with distraction or hampering. Getting dogpiled by zombies gets you climbed on and bitten, not driven insane when you overstress. I don't think people were advocating that hampering/distraction should directly screw with your mind but that rather Stress could be u...

There are failure states short of dismemberment. Are you saying you can't imagine any tension without the risk of imminent death, and can't imagine any setback short of being murdered? No, I'm saying I do not expect or require that death be taken off the table. Perhaps this is in part due to my his...

It's a lesser of two evils situation as far as I'm concerned. Not being able to take action or rolling up a new character sucks but I'd prefer it over not risking failure. Really, the only deaths that I consider truly regrettable are the ones that come about through OOC pissing matches or come from ...

The thing with samurai is that the romanticized conceptions about their weapon choices are basically a load of bullshit and thus should die in a fire. Heirloom weapons have value in many cultures, to be sure, and that goes double in a feudal setting where owning a sword is also an exclusive status s...

I referenced a legit power level errata already. Implying that power level errata never actually happened is ignorant at best and disingenuous at worst. They were using power level errata until '06 or '07 or so. They printed articles about power level errata and then they further explained why they ...
