Okay, I redid my math at actual .01c, instead of 01c.

3,000,000m/s(4.02g/4127.69g)=2,554.17m/s

2,554.17m/s^2=6,523,784.39m/s

E=.5(4127.69g)(6,523,784.39m/s)
E=13,464,079,794.4J

Which comes to a mere 7,324,431,457.35 foot-pound

I mean, how hard are we talking? But no, not hard sifi, FTL exists in form of gravitationaly induced space-time contraction. So, you know, magic might as well just exist.

Drones are an interesting idea though, because they would probably be cheaper than human lives too.

A coil gun is a projectile weapon system that accelerates a projectile via magnetism inside the barrel rather than a chemical reaction. So similar to the function of a firearm. Alright correct me if I'm mathing wrong. But. 299,792,458*(4.02/4127.69)=291951.877921 E=.5(4127.69)(85235899021.6) E=175,9...

Light speed projectiles

So, this belated NaNo, I kind of stumbled into a really strong submission. By happenstance I started watching this live reading of an r/HFY submission. At the beginning of November the reader had been in the middle of a break to work on their thesis and so I went to Reddit to finish the story and ha...

Heavily edited video of riots do not in fact mean what you think they mean. Especially not ones where they don't show the start of the riot. If you showed the right clips of the Kent State massacre you could show "those violent students" or some fucking thing if you wanted to. But the bot...

Oh, sorry, forgot, video evidence of black clad communist, their words, not mine btw, fire bombing cars and smashing windows, not sufficient in this day and age. Also, I will take note that you are entirely okay with the widespread practice of mutilating women's genitalia in the middle east, which i...

This just in, The communists throw their support behind Corbyn. Probably because, labor's shadow chancellor John McDonnel is a life long Stalinist. Who has been quote, "waiting for the banking crisis his whole life."

Kreigspiel was a wargame, and it does a lot of things modern wargames, rpgs, and board games do today. However, I make the distinction that Kreigspiel was a wargame in the literal sense, and was a teaching tool for officers. Where as Little Wars was intended as an actual game for people to play and ...

ROSSR: Little Wars

Welcome welcome, fair denizens. To this, what I should expect to be the first ROSSR, what does the R stand for, well that r stand for really, because today, we're going back, way, way back. How far back is way back, well, allow me set the stage for you. The year is 1913, and H.G. Wells was having lu...

My reading is that you start at velocity x call it 30 feet. First round you move 30 feet and now you are going 60 feet/round, next round you move 60 feet and are now moving at 120 feet/round. I suppose it could also be your reading, it's not very clear, but it specifically calls out how quickly you ...

Dungons and FTL

So, I was building a character that is a spoof on a 40K spess marine in a universe where teh emparah made genetically engineered combat maids instead, because, hey, 40k is a literal, actual joke, I might as well laugh at it. She ended up having the wings of thunder maneuver, and the Void wings graft...

So, having watching that video... both combatant's defenses failed almost immediately almost every time and the one who survived did so by a matter of seconds. Bucklers were fit to purpose for civilian defense certainly but that is because they're light and small enough that they're easy to carry. A...

You're half right about bucklers, yes you can use them to defend your entire upper body, as I said. However that does not change the fact that they do not afford you any passive defense you have to actively parry every strike with a buckler and that necessarily makes it an inferior defense in melee ...

A lot of you're points are good, there should be, weapons made to help combat these fantastical creatures. But principally, these weapons probably don't actually look too different. Like, in general, the difference between defeating a super-heavy cavalryman and a dragon is mostly just one of scale. ...

Accept this doesn't really change anything, all it does is shift things around, yes an ogre could pick up a two handed sword made for a human and use it as a one handed sword. But it really doesn't want to do that, swords are tools they are made with purposes in mind and a two handed is not meant fo...
