I came to a similar conclusion a while ago. Pausing the game to search a book for one line of text about a spell's range or whatever is no fun. Neither is spending hours copying down all the minor rules your character might need. I do like the 'gamey' aspect but it wore a little thin when my group w...

The Free Universal RPG system is my preference. There's only one resolution mechanic, and it's always just a few d6. No scrounging for 8 d4's. Character creation is organic. There's no +2 on ranged attacks or +2 will save, your character simply has "Good Aim" or "Strong Will". T...

I've mentioned the Free Universal RPG System before. It has everything you described. You'll have no blank stares while explaining the rules. You'll have no slowdowns due to mechanics. You'll never have to look up anything. It inspires (even first-time) players to create content and become immersed....

OP, don't let the den's hate-on for rules-light systems discourage you. It sounds like a fine mechanic (I prefer FURPG ). My taste in fantasy heartbreakers has gotten progressively more rules-light. I realize now, the whole point of the game is roleplaying the cool characters/story/setting, and leng...

I can see why they're saying there's no reason for the cards.

Maybe you can search for the card you want every turn OR draw 2 cards. So you can get your key spell, or get more spells, some of which would fuel your defenses.

146 people paid 100 dollars to get a lower price on the cloud service.
50 people paid 250 dollars to get it 2 months early.
17 people paid 500 dollars.. to beta test this.

All for product they've never used nor read a critical review of.
Kickstarter boggles my mind sometimes.

So how do you know the DC in FURPG? You either have to look it up in a chart as well, or is it pure MTP? If it is pure MTP, well you could do MTP in "Your system" as well. Just ignore what the chart says. Having a chart of DC's is really helpful, because it allows you to think of similar ...

You mean conjuring, spellcasting, summoning, evoking, divining? Now you're just being difficult.

It's called mundane because the actions taken are mundane. Swinging a sword. Grappling.

Sorry, I didn't mean to butthurt anybody by using a commonplace word we all know the meaning of.

Why do you all have to eat a dick a day by using the stupid term mundane, which is shitty and means the exact opposite of you mean instead of just giving them a power source of any fucking kind and shutting up about it? Kaelik, you're entire argument is the semantics of the word mundane. It's point...

Why is there another thread about what is-and-isn't mundane?

Just use the terms Actually Mundane and Mundane Enough.

Of course causing an earthquake isn't Actually Mundane. The point is that Actually Mundane can't play in the same game as wizards above level 2.

The Sleep Clause specifically and obviously shrinks the metagame. I don't see how you could even argue differently. I don't see how this is obvious or evident at all. The game is more fun being played the way it was made, the single player way. This is exactly wrong. The single player game is a chore. It's so unbelievably boring. That's why you don't like battling. The single player game is "press A six hundred thousand times with your charizard". Batt...
