May be a little late, but if you want a quick reference guide to a decent bard that focuses on casting, this is a start: http://www.dnd-wiki.org/wiki/Sublime_Singer_%283.5e_Optimized_Character_Build%29 (The reason for half-elf is that you get Calm Emotions with a DC equal to your perform check.) Right; so that series has the camera constantly on Guts rather than the rest of the Band of the Hawk. What's a good RPG for RPing in such a world with similar characters? Heck, you could have a party made of Guts (the big guy), Griffith (the hero), Caska (heart of the group), Corkus (the lancer), Ju...

I haven't watched it in a while, but from what I remember... Guts was good with a sword. He joined the Hawks. He won some battles. He helped Griffith get rid of some political opponents. He did some dirty work for him. He decided to leave. Griffith got mad and did something irrational like sleeping ...

Ignore the flashbacks and the phallic imagery for a moment; play pretend with me here, and pretend that the whole flashback is everything we're looking to recreate, as though it was--remember, pretend--cognizant and logical and such. Forget all the crap. Just concentrate on the time from when Guts j...

The main point was less behelits and apostles and more a bunch of above-average people adventuring in a dark fantasy low magic campaign that's filled with intrigue, interesting characters, potential for politics, etc. Think the first arc when Guts and Griffith were together, rather than everything t...

Roleplaying in the Berserk Universe
Does anyone have any suggestions for RP in the Berserk universe? Just to be clear, someone like Guts (the protagonist) would be just about at the highest level of what PCs can achieve in this kind of world. A friend suggested going with aWoD and sticking to just mortal types along with changing the ...

Usually the players won't need to gate things in; sometimes they will, and when they do, and their gate spell is now on recharge, they will not want to adventure until it comes back, because something similar might on one of those adventures, when it does, they won't have their trusty gate ready to...

Only if your players feel as though you're such a bastard that they MUST to gate in half a dozen ancient celestial wyrm dragons to succeed in every combat. It changes Gate and the like from a first and last line of defense to a last resort like the bombs in those shooter games. (Replace Gate with wh...

One solution is to simply cutting the number of slots a wizard gets to 1/3rd the normal amount if you're going to assume he is going to rest after each fight. I'm just saying you need some kind of solution to try to keep spellcasters in check. Another solution might be using the recharge magic vari...

NWN 1 was awesome because of all the cool persistant world games that came out of it. I don't think I ever actually played the actual story. I was referring exclusively to the single player game where the combat got repetitive quickly, the story was uninspired, there was a lot of endless, pointless...

From what I hear, they're making the next Neverwinter Nights 4e-based. From my experiences with the two predecessors of this game and the fact that Cryptic is working on it, I predict much fail.

Stuff I randomly looked at the response to Midnight_v's post. Then I regretted it. The intermittent occurrence of spelling mistakes/typos made my brain warp slightly and caused a feeling of vertigo before I was able to even reach the content of the post. (Though this might be contributed to by my l...
