Re: Minion power transfer I guess? NO PHONELOBSTER

Good points all. Thought about it some more and I think I have a couple of mechanic ideas in the trunk that could make this sort of thing go. I'll do some homework and write something up, have my 8yo read it to make sure it isn't just frothing lunacy, and report back. As an aside, one thing I notice...

Re: Minion power transfer I guess?

You need some sort of rules scaffolding to bring this forward, or limits on what you are discussing, otherwise this can go anywhere. I was pretty explicit about this just being a fledgling idea, and I'm fine with it going anywhere. PL goes nowhere. That's not worth any of our time. As an aside, ask...

Re: Minion power transfer I guess?

Is the plan to make a rule about lieutenant availability/power? I don't know what, if anything I'll be doing with this idea. There ya go. I am just spitballing for the purpose of discussion. Hey, I even added an "improving fighters" quip for the hell of it. Is this just obsessive make wor...

Minion power transfer I guess? NO PHONELOBSTER

I wasn't even sure what to call this concept. There has to be a word or phrase that I just can't recall. I was reading a novel and thought about a trope where a godlike entity (usually evil) gives power to group of chosen lieutenants who become "demigods" and those are in turn able to crea...

I like the idea that the most respected and influential guild in Gully dwarf society would be SAG.

Re: "In my game the Mental Attributes are..."

I like the Stunlock Holmes example as a thought experiment. In my interpretation that fight scene just shows he has a really high DEX, that's flavored as being because he's smart, but realistically the whole "predict things with perception" is really WIS. That of course makes him a Monk, w...

Re: Wizards informally announces 5.5 edition

I am dumbfounded that there is not a Netflix D&D cartoon. Okay, hear me out... Spelljammer. (I have a feeling this has been bandied about on here before) It would work for the kids who watch Adventure Time and Regular Show, but also for the older Rick and Morty crowd. Space Hippos yeeting Mindf...

Re: Annoying Game Questions You Want Answered

If you're going to have wacky dice for your PDF or online only game, you should at least do something like those RAND corporation tables in the back of the Lone Wolf books so you can generate die rolls with your finger.

Re: Vampire 5th Edition is Bad: The Movie

25ish years ago our local Vampire LARP spun off into a 24/7 Larp, a monumentally stupid idea where you and your Sabbat buddies could go to the mall kiosk where Billy worked, get out your character sheets and go to town. You couldn't permanently kill people like that unless you were in a designated p...

The little bit I've looked at it it is indeed terrible. At least they were upfront about the annihilation part.

Re: Vampire 5th Edition is Bad: The Movie

I can see the three round Scooby Doo thing adding a bit of depth by having conditions based around how well you did during the three rounds? Trap Phase ends and monster still has full HP... you start Escape Phase with one HP. Trap Phase ends and monster only has one HP... You start Escape Phase with...

Re: Complaining about 5e Adventure Paths

Your MC sounds like a complete shitbag. Is there a "reverse Oberoni" where no matter how creative an action the PCs come up with, the MC can always squish it down to RAW?

Is this only one twin surviving? Because that explains a lot about my life. I'm hoping this class gives you a bonus feat or something if you actually ate your twin.

Ghoulishness aside this is a very in depth review and I need to sit down and go through it all.

Yeah this is pretty fucking awful and wrong on so so many levels. Even a "we don't know what the fuck we're talking about and we're going to intentionally make people uncomfortable by stealing some shit from a 1970s psychology textbook from Goodwill" would be better than nothing, but that'...

Oilcloth raincoats were a thing in the 18th century, but I think you're right on the influence.

Speaking of which, I would also mention that the protagonist of The Marquis (which is the biggest influence on Bloodborne that nobody ever mentions) uses a pistol/sword combo.

If anything the goofy NPC artifact stuff is the rule instead of the exception.

I'd love to see a setting where more rational mages try to figure out exactly why that is.

The newer examples that jump out at me are Bloodborne's hunters and the Highwayman from Darkest Dungeon. Also, when I was in junior high I had a science teacher who was a Coast Guard reservist, who was regarded as a kook because he insisted the boarding loadout should be a cutlass and shotgun instea...

Thanks for soldiering through it. Makes me wonder how exactly this would look if it were a good adventure path. Or does the fuckery of social interactions combine with the fuckery of high level play to make such a thing impossible?
