I had forgotten this guy existed I have no time for any of his RPG output but I am regularly reminded of his existence on FB as he is always buying Ken St. Andre lunch. Not sure if it's libertarian lunch, but at least it's something in Wick's favor. The "one law" idea is dumb on so many l...

Not Pokemon specific, but my son and I were playing the Smash Bros. Nintendo Monopoly, and as we always do were spitballing ideas to make regular games more complicated. In this case he came up with the idea of making Monopoly an RPG. Looks like that's an idea that many people have already had. The ...

Here, have some healing-ish items. Injection No. 7: [fast healing] An ancient battlefield medicine, made in vast quantities in forgotten times. It works, and works well. So well, in fact, that often the easiest way to determine the exact site of battles- old and new- was by the sheer number of disca...

I suppose one of the things that could fix the "success with a cost" nonsense is what Blade says- some preestablished "approaches" that are story focused, but a more old school method would be to have tables for those instances. So the stealth failure table would have 1. Sentry c...

My brain keeps going to a place where I think that the Quantum Bears could be modified into something that makes sense, that's more explicit, that's consistent... but that's likely dumb. If it was that easy, the Den would have done it by now.

I think you are correct. It's been a long time since I looked at it, and I remember there not being a lot of spells- more like powers- and they were risky and inconsistent. Presumably like the combat?

Have never played, but I wonder how meaningful the Riddle of Steel/Blade of the Iron Throne approach is? The way you have to prioritize the different categories of backgrounds, attributes, etc. at chargen means that if you want to start as a powerful sorceror you will likely also be starting as an u...

Looking at that bestiary, the monster moves reminded me of an oversimplified version of the Hex Flower, which I thought was pretty nifty when I read about it.

Cube of Time's Hand : [freedom of movement] While much attention is given by our three-dimensional minds to the problem of space- too much, not enough, filled with fire or spikes, etc- the problem of time is just as serious, perhaps more so, though this lament is typically reserved for the scribbli...

The concept behind D&D paladins and clerics is essentially the same thing. Even as a person who is habitually a cleric player, I probably wouldn't cry if the class was dissolved. Sure, there's space for the high priest who has miracles or a crazy prophet likewise, but that isn't anything a wizar...

I do believe that said approach (not having a dedicated, generic and powerful Cleric class on a class based system) will greatly diminish the importance of religion on a setting. Not that it’s a bad thing, mind you. But one should proceed with that in mind. Well, if we're looking at the model where...

I assume part of that is, if they fully understood the correct interpretation, they would transcend this world. So if you're speaking to them, 1) they're slightly imperfect and understand you are as well and 2) judgement isn't exactly conducive to perfection. As long as you're making your interpret...
