This is not in any way forced or in-your-face? It's an article about a very minor character, so it is unsurprisingly short and focused on the most notable details about that character. Yeah, but that part about very minor is wrong. During the rest of this Adventure Path, these and other NPC allies ...

* Edit: Oh look, like this time. Yeah, those 1-2 sentences of backstory for a single NPC, which isn't something the PCs would even necessarily hear, are really dominating that multi-book AP. Yup. Whatever. Stir the flames, I don't care. The first part of this adventure path is shit for many reasons...

All the APs feature a bunch of dungeon crawls, so mounted combat is probably not going to work terribly well. If you want to play with animals, you're best off with a summoner. That way you don't have to explain how you brought your mount up the side of a mountain. Taking the Narrow Frame on your m...

Anytime someone mentions "SJW Propaganda" you can ignore the rest of their points as they're idiots. So you actually think that constant reminders of NPC sexual preferences belong into a high fantasy adventure path about the war against demons? Well, I disagree. Especially if they are wri...

Well, if the first few books are fine, just go for it.

The chance that the campaign survives until the 5th book is slim anyway ;)

Also, the DM I played with had kind of lost interest in 3.5 at that point, might well be that that was a factor, too.

I ran the first module of Carrion Crown, "The Haunting of Harrowstone", and it was really good. Far better than I expected, and the players really enjoyed it. It's pretty free-form and non-railroady for a premade adventure. My players were a full-on evil party, but it worked well all the s...

Hmm, good points, thanks. I mainly went back to 3e for inspiration because the free, unhampered movement and lack of flanking and OA made our combat much more boring, but I am happy to hear other ideas. "guard" or "overwatch" option, you then allow unfettered movement and make de...

5e tactical module draft

So everyone in my group wants to play 5e. I miss the tactical options of 3.5, so I wrote an attempt at the promised but missing 5e tactical module. A battle-mat is assumed. Please focus on problems in my tactical rule changes, and not on flaming 5e itself. How can I improve these? What other interes...

Anyone run Carrion Crown for Pathfailure? A good friend of mine is trying to run it, and she's a pretty green DM. And I've never ran the thing. I ran the first adventure only, as start for a different campaign. Didn't really like the later ones, but the first one is pretty cool, lots of atmospheric...

AD&D 3 (or 3E SE) would amount to another Pathfinder. No real problems fixed, some minor new house rules, but enough random bullshit differences so you cannot really use the old stuff anymore.

No thanks.

DMG delayed to december

Maybe they noticed there were some problems in their ruleset?

Haha just kidding; I doubt there is such a good reason for it.

Obvious answer: don't make marking take up real actions. You could make them swift actions, or happen automatically as riders on other actions, or have the marks themselves do something worthwhile when applied. The 4e fighter placed marks automatically whenever it attacked anything, which was prett...

I noticed some big hp inflation. giants at about 200 HP, trolls over 80 with the regeneration doubled, stuff like the otyugh is triple from 3.5 and is at 114. I think they want low amounts of monsters in fights. Seeing how they didn't learn from 4e, they will probably just update the monster math w...

Having monsters get 3 autosaves if they fail a save definitely is a "highlight" of idiocy and disconnected game design that makes people more lokely to use lower level spells the more "Legendary" the foes are. apparently, the best way to kill ancient dragons is with scaling cant...

Not sure it's even his fault. This is just a left-over from 4e. You're joking, right? Because Mearls has been on staff since 3.5, was a major figure in/throughout 4e, and is solely responsible for 5e. And based on how they supposedly approached 5e, I'd say that this is a little more than just a leg...

No. D&DNext is advocating post-hoc treasure drops. The +4 longsword in the Orc's "treasure hoard" is something that you can use or sell, but a +4 longsword in the Orc's "monster equipment" can't be sold and may not even be available to you once the current session is over. T...
