3D art isn't difficult anymore. It's the year 2010.

Example: City Of Heroes, Champions, Spore...

At least, this is true in the video game industry. As always, the Pen and Paper industry is about 20 years behind.

So you can post your own name, but you can't post someone else's name unless they do so first? So I couldn't link to my husband's articles because I'm not him and they're published under his real name? You could not link to personal information about your husband unless your husband wrote that info...

I know that your intention is to find something to reduce the flamewarring around here, but this one got me... I'm not sure why you think that's my intention...I don't give a rats ass about "flamewarring". I realize the goal is to prevent others from breaking your anonymity, but how does ...

Worrying about politically or religiously "insensitive" material is kind of bullshit. After all, some people find D&D religiously offensive. I mean, nice idea, but you can't please everyone all of the time. Also, what do they have against porn? "they" is me, actually. 1. Not...

They only "know" the brand through lazy, negative, PR. Either from TV/Movie stereotypes or that whole 90's SATAN'S GAME thing. When was the last time you ever saw advertising for D&D outside of a gaming shop? It's my firm opinion that WotC has already let the ax drop with 4E. The fanba...

I didn't mean literally. I meant in that "everyone and their uncle thinks LOTR when they think fantasy."

If D&D comes back from the dead it's going to have to be the LOTR of RPGs. That is, the introduction-everyone-knows-it to roleplaying games. Sadly I believe that means they need to keep Roles. It means getting rid of the vast dice array. It also means getting rid out of the non-stereotypical cla...

Yep, AJ is correct.

PS. One of the reasons I'm glad he is on the EP team. I'd hate to have one of the best (maybe only?) CC games run by people who don't understand TM and C.

See? It's not that hard.
But this wasn't about difficulty. While that wasn't hard was it worth the effort? How about when your players just equate them to being Korean/German mixes?

Failure of imagination or just intelligently efficient? Cultures are incredibly complex and vast subjects. They are built from the surrounding environment, historical events, and make up of the biological organism that lives in the culture. Trying to build one from scratch is a wasted effort. Not on...

Strategy:

1. Strangle out all the neckbeards.
2. Rebuild the setting from the ground up.
3. Draw people in with more modern/shiny designs.
4. Profit.

It's what differentiates Battletech from Gundam and so on.
No, what differentiates Battle-Tech from Gundam "and so on," is that Battle-Tech is dead/dying and "and so on" sells pretty damn well in at least 3 nations.

Dwarves == Drunks
Scottish == Drunks

Dwarves == Stout men and women
Scottish == Stout men and women

Now, is this because the Dwarves are a Scottish stereotype or because they have similar stereotypes?

I just wish that it was easier to *get* to reviews and discussions of individual books/lines easier. It's a mess. Boardgamegeek.com is more functional, but less user friendly if that makes sense. The layout is overly-complicated, but it presents immense amounts of information quickly and without ha...

If BattleTech wants to attract new players, it's going to need to dig deeper into the roots that inspired the game. Your biggest potential new audience - anime fans - do NOT want to play big, slow, lumbering piece of shit mechs that have zero maneuverability and have to worry about heat management....

I'm not sure what you mean by 'has no draw for any crowd beyond the fans', if you weren't a fan of mech combat you'd probably never hear about Battletech. Meaning that BattleTech simply doesn't have the same draw as it once did in order to make new fans and players. The storyline and setting don't ...
